I'm no scientist and I have no idea what will happen on October 21 when this thing actually fires and particles collide. I'm pretty sure it's not going to be the end of the world, and I highly doubt that a black hole will be created which will consume our planet by 2012. What I do know, 'cause I wents to skoool and lernts aboots it;), is that without the need for thousands of scientists to communicate very quickly and efficiently, Sir Tim Berners-Lee may not have invented the intertubes. Yea, Sir Tim, LHC and Cern! Anyone reading this right now may want to take a moment to thank those who made it possible.
