Today is election day up here in dear old Canada. I'm not going to bore you with my personal opinions of our illustrious leaders, as I think I've already done that in several previous posts. It's enough to say I will dutifully go to the polling place and vote for the least offensive of the bunch.
I've decided instead to share a story about an incident at work yesterday that pretty much sums up were my own and obviously so many other Canadians political thoughts are these days. I was just about to finish up my shift when a lady, who just for reference is not one of my favorite customers, came up and attempted to talk me into giving her something for nothing. This woman has radar when it comes to finding me in the store and rubs me the wrong way as she can become quite abrasive and refuses to take "no" for an answer. I know, she's fully aware that she pisses me off, that's why she does it and I should get over it.
One of the managers was within earshot yesterday, so I called her over to explain to this charming woman why she couldn't get what she wanted, yet again. After all was said and done, I made a tactful apology for having to ask the opinion of another, and this usually nasty little lady blew me out of the water with what came out of her mouth next. She looked at me with a glowing smile plastered all over her face and said: "That's okay dear, if we don't know the answer to something, then we should to ask someone who does. There's nothing wrong with that. That's what Obama says."
With our election less than a day away, a person who is generally a thorn in my side was gracious, kind, and quoting Barack Obama. Thank-you America, but I do so wish we had a guy like this of our own!

while he is definitely not the coming messiah- he is a step away from actually falling into the abyss. :) if for nothing else than the rest of the world sees him as a welcomed improvement from the 15 year nightmare of right wing rule :) i wish my blog was big enough for me to apologize to the world for the stupidity, arrogance, ignorance, and surreal religiosity of the right wing contingent in this country- and to apologize for the weak, corrupt, ineffectual left side of the country who prefers to sing the joys of inclusiveness and love to the strains of kumbaya while the right has destroyed the planet.
what were we talking about again? ")
I'm an Atheist, remember. I don't blindly trust anybody, specially not any lousy politician.:)
It's not your responsibility to apologize for all the shit happening in this world, it's the perpetrators of the crimes who should, but that's as likely to happen as the second coming (or the first for that matter).:)
Now all we can do is go forward.
Justin Trudeau is coming....
"Justin Trudeau is coming..."
Not too soon enough for me.:)
