We Shall Overcome.....

United we stand, divided we fall.

At times like these it's easy to forget the many positive steps forward that humanity has made in it's relatively short history. It saddens me when I see friends, family, and acquaintances so comfortable being wrapped in doom, gloom, fear, and hopelessness that they forget we are truly capable of rising above it all if we want to.

the operative word being 'if'- the world is a greedy place and the soft hearted folks who want to live in peace and harmony with everyone and nature- are a minority. it's unfortunate but nothing in human history leads me to believe differently.

I agree. And the many steps taken in such a short time to assure their demise terrorizes me!

I agree that human beings are far from perfect, but neither is any other species from what I can gather. We either stand together to overcome the current difficulties we all face, and eventually rise above them, or we don't. If we don't then the world you foresee will surely be the one we get.

I was one of those who ceaselessly wrote letter after letter for more than 3 years to the South African government on behalf of Nelson Mandela. I also regularly pestered my own government, yours and most of Europe's on his behalf. Eventually I had the privilege of watching him become the President of South Africa. Therefore, I tend to have a more optimistic outlook than most when it comes to our ability to do something right in this world when all seems so wrong. Amandla Ngawetu!!!!
