A Step In The Right Direction.......

"Amnesty International and the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association are asking for a writ of prohibition preventing Canadian Forces in Afghanistan from transferring detainees to the Afghan authorities or any other state that is likely to torture them, including the United States....

“Canadian soldiers must never be part of a process that could lead to torture”, says Neve. “The detainee agreement should mirror our domestic values and match our international commitments and not be a conduit to possible future human rights violations.”"

That should piss off some of our "friends" in Washington and Kabul. From what I understand, our troops have an outstanding record for the tracking and live capture of enemy combatants.

Harper (our PM) would just love to be his bestus buddy, but he must know what kind of reaction he would get. Another 12 years of the Conservative's not having a hope of being re-elected, methinks.

Now we just need to get the troops home (all of them).

See, the difference is, the Canadians are doing what's right.
I'm very, very proud that our lovely neighbors to the North aren't engaged in the barbarities that shame & humiliate me.
